Hello everyone, I’m a casual gamer mostly enjoying AAA single-player games via gamestreaming on my Mac. After struggling with Gears 5, I experimented with newer titles and discovered I can still achieve 1080p at high settings. Setting the stream to 1440p/4K60 in older games caused significant lag despite a stable powerline connection. My main concern is whether the issue stems from my CPU or GPU. I’ve decided not to upgrade hardware, but noticed a new OEM 2070 ITX for £329 recently. For my second question, if I switch to an i7 with 16GB RAM and a Sandy Bridge chipset (around £120 each), will it still work for a few years? Or should I keep the current setup and wait until the next generation releases? My system has always been ahead of most consoles, meeting requirements for most games, but the excitement around the new Xbox and PS5 suggests they’ll be demanding. Current specs: i5-7340H, 8GB RAM, EVGA GTX 780 SC (soon replacing with RTX 2070).

Streaming games always causes a delay. I’d use an Ivy Bridge i7 (not Sandy), 16GB RAM, and the most powerful GPU possible with what’s left.

The i5-3450 isn't compatible with the RTX 2070 properly. You'll need a full system upgrade. For the CPU side, I recommend looking into an AMD processor like the 3700x—it would work much better. Avoid the outdated Intel options; they're far less powerful and have significant security issues that affect performance.

At 1080p60 you see almost no input lag, but it starts to degrade at higher resolutions or speeds, even without stuttering. The 780 chipset seems capable, but it’s worth checking if it handles those demands smoothly.

It may assist a few users, though the i7 3770/3790K could perform better since you can push it to 4GHz or higher with adequate cooling.

Unfortunately, I can't push the clock speed higher—so I considered the 3770s option. It’s roughly half the cost compared to the K model, and there doesn’t seem to be a noticeable difference between them.

Prefer a 3770 or 2600 over the 3770S. Back then I used the guideline that S stands for slow and T for terrible.
