I’m aware of some limitations mentioned in GBN’s video, but let’s be real—this is what it’s all about: solid core clocks, full feature set, and standard performance. P.S. Don’t touch anything about the 5600X or 5900X, I know most of the other 5th gen users lean toward that side.
I really enjoy mine, I often change between it and the 5900 because I can't decide which one to sell. That could give you some insight. My 5800 performs much better on single threads than the 5900. The only drawback of the 5800 is that it gets extremely hot. For context, a full-core test on Cinebench shows it reaching up to 88c with a 240mm AIO. On the same setup, the 5900 caps at around 69c. If you have a strong cooler, the 5800 offers no major disadvantage, though it raises the question: do you truly need that extra single-core speed? All-core performance isn't much faster than the 3800xt model, which is available on eBay for a significantly lower price. Keep in mind, hope this helps! Let me know if you have more questions. Jake
I've got mine running for about two weeks now. It works just fine, though it's a bit warm for my preferences. As we talked before, this could be due to how the temperature is measured. With a Dark Rock Pro 4, it stays around 85°C under maximum load and drops to 82°C during the 30-minute Cinebench tests. It didn’t throttle at all; each core remained close to 4.8°C consistently. All benchmarks passed as expected with minimal variation compared to others, so I think the overall performance is decent. I managed to overclock nicely, but I stick to stock speeds since I don’t need that extra boost and don’t want to risk overheating with my cooling setup. I don’t have anything negative to say. Even when compared to the 5600/5900 setups, it’s a good value in Germany relative to other Zen 2/3 options. Hope this helps a bit! My overall configuration should show up on my profile. Initially I disliked it, found it excessively hot and intimidating when temperatures jumped to 90c during a cinema bench session. However, after the BIOS update, a new reseat, and switching to the Dark Rock Pro 4, everything operates perfectly. At its current price it reaches 4.85, and I’ve boosted it to 5.1. Some users even hit 5.2 or higher. Overall, it’s an excellent CPU and I’m glad I moved from the 3900x. I just play games, while a colleague needing a CPU for work is gaining more performance thanks to the extra cores of the 3900x.

Depending on your proximity to the case or if you need more precision, I suggest looking at the 'fan control' app shared by someone else on the forum. It offers advanced settings for adjusting fans based on various parameters like GPU temperature. Pretty cool, right?
Might be a little late to the post but here is my experience with the Ryzen 7 5800x My 5800x ran very hot (what a surprise), while doing a CineBench R20 run. Firstly it hit 5600 points, which i thought was very low, and had to do with the very high termals (i was comming from a i7 7700k overclocked to 5ghz) which was cooler doing a similar test. With some tweaks to PBO settings I was able to get 6069 points in R20 as my best score, which is a lot better than that of 5600 points. Temperature was the same a 90C and while gaming it hit 82C with an avg. of about 75C. It's worth noting that these temperatures was hit by using a Kraken X63 280mm AIO. Some time has passed and since then I've sent my 5800x back for a refund twice as I've seen people getting much more comfortable temperatures, which hasn't yet worked for me. So while i'm waiting for the refund for my motherboard, cooler and CPU, i'll be getting a mATX motherboard as I will be able to fit a 360mm AIO in the top of my case. I will be getting the same CPU again for the 3rd time, and hopefully 3rd times the charm for me. Hope you found this helpfull, and once again sorry for late post.
