So as an overview it's a reseller of "unused keys". Typically this comes from oem's or maybe a business that bought a package of so many keys but only needs x amount and sells the rest. That's typical and there's not a thing wrong with that. The risk is that it COULD be a key from someone running stolen credit cards to buy keys, then selling them for profit. So there's a risk the key is illegitimate or from theft. TYPICALLY it's not, but it COULD be. Even if purchased from a stolen CC, it would be a legit key and work fine, so no prob for you, and the theft victim would file theft with the bank and get refunded in most situations. So there's a moral line here where you have to decide if the drastically lower price is worth the risk of possibly getting a key from a thief. Again MOST is just OEM and business stuff, but it could be from a bad source and you just have to account for that risk. For me I used it for my key because in most cases victims of cc theft will file and get money returned, so the small risk that I get one of those cases doesn't bother me enough to overcome not wanting to spend 150 on windows then again on office

Why not check out other options instead of Newegg?

Many folks still rely on them. I try to steer clear now if possible. They were acquired by a Chinese firm and the service has changed. The third-party sellers have also messed with the site. Of course, Amazon does the same, but one benefit of Newegg was knowing you were interacting directly with them.

I haven't encountered any problems with Newegg yet, but I'll stay alert.
