I understand this is a very long post, but I've underlined and made text bold incase you want to skim the main idea. If you're willing to spare some time, please take a read. ANY help would be appreciated. A quick run down of the problem: This problem developed about a week ago during my final exams for college. This is my only computer so I just put up with it until now because they're over and I have the time. Moving on, something is causing my keyboard to not disconnect, but lag for about 4 or 5 seconds . I believe it's my USB ports having the issue (the ones on the motherboard). If I were to type, "Hello, I'm losing my f**king mind from this" nothing would appear on screen until those 4-5 seconds are up and then without any further inputs it types that exact thing. This happens randomly from every 5 minutes, to 15 minutes and there is no indicator that it is going to occur. Things I've noticed during it: -When it happens my H150I AIO's LCD turns off briefly during it (sometimes). -Windows USB Disconnect sounds plays -I lose my sanity -Computer isn't hindered in any other way. -Device manager reloads Specs are at the bottom of the post if you need them The stuff I've done and tried (this is a long list): I've read and watched maybe a hundred (in total) Reddit posts, Microsoft forums, YouTube videos, and 7 from this forum on this issue, I've tried all their solutions I'm going to try to list them all but I've done so many that I'm sure I've forgotten some: -Turning it on and off -Trying other USB ports and other keyboards (its not the keyboard and all motherboard USBS had the same affect) -Checked if it was my keyboard and verified it my mouse wasn't affected. (Mouse and headset remain unaffected, its not my keyboard either, happened with other keyboards) -Cleaned and dusted my computer nicely. -Verified the cables were all plugged in, and I mean ALL of them. -Driver Updates/Uninstalling/Reinstalling (all 3) for: Motherboard drivers, GPU drivers, USB port drivers, AMD Chipset, ICUE Software, Asus Armory, the MSI app thingy, windows (reverted, issue still occurred, updated) -Windows Trouble shooting (I ran each and every trouble shooting option except the network ones and shared file stuff, it found some issues but not the driving me insane) -Device manager checking for errors found one but issue was not resolved. -Device manager, going into the USB Controllers and updating it so it will not "Allow this computer to turn off this device to save power" (for all the options I could in the USB controllers tab) -Told the computer I loved it??? -Checked "problem reports" for anything around the time it gets funky. -System Properties, turned off "device instillation settings so it doesn't download manufacture programs automatically". Not sure what this does but they stated it solved error 131 (see next note) - Check Event Viewer , so I've never gone this in-depth with computers so I spent maybe an hour trying to figure out what the f**k I'm looking at. I think I found a few things but I could be interpreting it wrong: Under errors I found: Session "Microsoft.Windows.Remediation" failed to start with the following error: 0xC0000035 (google was no help when I looked this up) Event ID: 2 - Source: Kernel-EventTracing Under errors I found: Metadata staging failed, result=0x80070490 for container '{4D696E69- I deleted the rest of this because I don't know if its sensitive information but it was a bunch of characters }' Event ID: 131 - Source: DeviceSetupManager Under Warnings I found: Name resolution for the name t-ring-fallbacks2.msedge.net timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded. Event ID: 1014 - DNS Client Events Under information around the same time I found: Device USB\VID_1038&PID_1612\8&17e5e475&0&2 was started. Event ID: 410 - source: Kernel-PnP -Tons of talk about power issues not being directed to the USBS properly with this motherboard on reddit, looked into possible solutions for that, an externals USB hub that has its own power was suggested? However, nobody online confirmed if this worked for them (haven't done it yet, I'm a college student and thats 20 bucks I dont really want to spend, but I'm considering if it'll work) -Putting my dog on top of my pc also didn't fix this, its hard to believe that didnt fix my computer. -Let my tech savvy friend take a look, he said "I'm cooked" and he doesn't know what's wrong. I'm about to give up, I have spent multiple days trying to fix this issue, its very annoying and nobody has the answer. I just want to sit down and relax after finals. I encountered an issue with my laptop where it would disconnect the USB even after plugging it in, and a monitoring program was detected. It seems the power plan was responsible—specifically, power-saving mode caused the USB ports to disconnect. I don’t recall the program name.
Sure, I tried it with another keyboard on my list. I'm confident about the BIOS but will verify tomorrow morning. Regarding the USB card, it seems straightforward—no special steps needed, just plug it in.
Navigate to "advanced power settings" via USB settings, then proceed to the USB selective suspend option. Disable it within the control panel power options. Advanced power settings provide additional choices beyond standard options. Also review your BIOS configuration. Certain motherboards include a feature to turn off USB for energy conservation.
It should work out of the box. Just install the card correctly and Windows will identify it.
