Hey everyone, I've been enjoying Witcher 3 for a while now and thought it would be worth sharing my setup. My hardware: an Intel i5 3570K running at 4.2GHz, 16GB RAM, HD 7950 graphics with 1020/1400 settings. I've enabled all graphics options except distant foliage, which is set to high. Hairworks are on full intensity, and I've maxed out tesselation in the Catalyst Control Centre. All post-processing features are active. You know how demanding this game can be? Even with low settings, I barely hit 60fps. But with these adjustments, I consistently get 30-40fps, minimal stutter and almost no input lag. This thread was meant to reassure folks who don’t have top-tier rigs—like me with a decent but not cutting-edge system—that a satisfying playthrough is achievable. I’d recommend checking out the detailed guide here: http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/guides/...king-guide. In short, the only setting that really matters is distant foliage; I’ll refine this post after work. But first, just wanted to kick off the discussion—Witcher 3 truly set the bar high for PC performance.

It really seems like the humor comes from how AMD cards can better utilize hairworks with driver exploits.

Excellent post. Your friend with the 290x sees smooth performance around 50+ FPS, while your 280x setup would likely offer a slightly different experience. Let me know if you need more details!

Destroy as in low frame rate? I believe cutscenes should run at 30 fps. If you're using a 280x resolution, you should definitely see around 40 fps with my settings—especially if you boost the clock speed.

Playing Witcher 3 on a MEDIUM setup with high water, hair off, and your current hardware gives you 10-35 FPS (around 25). Since Tomb Raider 2013, this has been the most optimized game I've enjoyed with near perfect performance.

Thanks for the input. 7950 remains a classic GPU, and AMD's driver support has consistently been solid. Games like GTA V and Witcher 3 (after the hairworks patch) run smoothly. The GeForce guides are really helpful for learning about new titles, though choosing what to skip can be tricky. They also provide useful comparisons of visual quality.

Tomb Raider received impressive performance improvements. The sole criticism was the original tressfx version slightly reducing frame rates. I still turned it on since my system had sufficient capacity. For those seeking higher framerates, disabling it should be the priority. Overall, AMD has demonstrated strong progress in graphical optimization and smooth scaling across various hardware setups. I’m excited about Deus Ex: Mankind Division using DX12.
