I recall that four individuals must establish control over the barrier by maneuvering around it, and subsequently, the barrier rotates to match the hue of AI. The player possessing the greatest quantity of their colored barrier will be declared the victor. Your assistance would be greatly valued.

Limited details regarding the maps are available.

There exist varied map designs, including space-themed maps and one featuring trains and moving clocks.

Approximately how old is this being discussed? And what type of computer or gaming console was it experienced on?

I enjoyed that video game back in 2005 or 2006, on a personal computer.

If our player turns yellow, we must patrol the area to lock it down, and the zone will shift to yellow.

How did the perspective appear? Was it a bird's-eye view, a frontal view, a three-dimensional side scroll, or a two-dimensional side scroll? Were all four characters displayed together on the same screen, or were they divided across four separate squares, similar to Mario Kart?

The guy likely used third-person perspective as he moved around the box where the previous player had tracked their steps.

Additionally, the other participant can claim their designated space by erasing their path with a single movement across that border.
