I've fixed the computer, but do you have the OEM license?
I found an Intel 8th gen system running completely on one computer. The only task was swapping out the hard drive. After installing Windows 11, it didn’t request a password and seemed to recognize the original hardware key. I haven’t connected it to the internet yet, but I’m curious about what will happen once I do. When I sign in with my Microsoft account, will I be able to use the system as my own? Will the OEM key still be valid, or will I need a retail license? Could the previous owner face any issues, or might I run into problems? If I can avoid buying another key, that would be ideal. Thanks.
It should function properly. If connected to an account, it might display problems, but it's unlikely to affect performance.
They function properly now. OEM keys remain linked to the physical device. (At least historically.)
