I'm looking for components to assemble my initial computer. This is my first time working with PC parts, so I'm unsure what to choose. The store suggests using a specific adapter chain: USB 2.0 to USB 3.2 Gen 1 and then USB 3.2 Gen 1 to USB 3.2 Gen 2. I don't know which one to replace or get if something isn't working.
Typically, the front case connectors don’t match the motherboard’s ones. Often this happens when an older case is paired with a newer board.

In short, your selected board backs USB 3.2 Gen2 front panel connections, while the motherboard lacks them. This only affects whether you can fully utilize the front panel features. If it’s important to you, look for a filter that requires at least one USB 3.2 Gen2 header and the search will exclude unsupported boards. The USB and audio connections on the front of the case (some are located on the sides or top) should be considered. USB-C demands USB 3.2 Gen1 or Gen2, so if that’s required or desired, you’ll likely want a board that meets those specs... I’ll share a screenshot of suitable filters to filter out unsuitable options. It shouldn’t be too much of an issue. My board lacks a header for this port, and it functions perfectly in my setup; I only have a front USB port that doesn’t work, which isn’t a major concern since I rarely use front panel interfaces and don’t need USB-C at the moment.
Warning: The MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 board is compatible with the AMD Ryzen 5 5600 3.5 GHz 6-core chip and BIOS 7C91vA9. If your board runs a previous BIOS version, you'll need to upgrade it to support the CPU.
