You’ve completed the upgrade and now you’re figuring out how to connect your new components smoothly. To ensure compatibility, check if your OS supports the new hardware and follow the manufacturer’s installation guide. For mounting an SSD, confirm the correct SATA or NVMe connection type and power supply requirements. If your system claims to bind itself to a motherboard, verify that it’s set up correctly for your specific setup before proceeding.
For the best results, perform a fresh setup instead. Otherwise, locate and remove every existing motherboard driver, then reinstall the updated ones.
Depending on the operating system you're using, you may need to re-register it for it to function properly. If necessary, you could also consider purchasing a new version of the OS.
What version of the operating system are you using? How was it installed in the earlier release? If it's a prebuilt unit, there should be a COA label with the key printed on it. However, OEM keys aren't always reliable for prebuilds. For retail copies, the COA label matches the original disk location. You might also retrieve it from system details if you can boot an older OS version. The stability can vary greatly—ranging from a complete boot issue to a BSOD after startup, or even smooth operation with minor performance hiccups when using programs.
You connect the old OS drive to the new motherboard and restart, then perform a fresh installation.
