I've been using a system I developed in 2018 for five years without any problems. Recently, a storm hit my island and now my computer won't turn on. After checking all components except the CPU and using only basic tools, it still doesn’t power up. The motherboard has a red light on its power button but pressing it doesn’t help. I took it to a local repair shop, which fixed it quickly. Back home it stopped working again. A technician tested my setup and even tried different parts like a new transformer and UPS, but nothing worked. It seems the issue might be with the motherboard itself. You’re considering getting an AM4 board online since local stores don’t have one. Your current specs are: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X, 3.6 GHz, 6 cores; Gigabyte GA-AX370-GAMING 5 ATX AM4 board; Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16 GB; MSI RTX 3070; and a Corsair RM750x graphics card.

Seriously, the PSU might have damaged another component, possibly the motherboard. You'll likely need replacement parts and a step-by-step test to confirm the issue.

I thought it might be due to the removal of most components, yet the board didn’t turn on. This doesn’t clarify why the PC starts working in the technician’s office but not elsewhere, even with their confusion.

It might help if you replaced the CMOS battery with a fresh one.

It appears the problem lies with the outlet itself. If the repair shop resolves it, it seems your device isn’t receiving sufficient power since inconsistent performance suggests a faulty component in your motherboard that may have been repaired and then damaged during transport.

Alright, my technician arrived and delivered the PC along with a UPS. He tested it at the shop and confirmed it was functioning properly. I connected it to the UPS and it started working smoothly for two weeks straight. After switching it to the wall outlet, everything remained operational. When I showed him around, he was puzzled since he'd previously seen the system work fine from my home. He mentioned only replacing the new PSU with the old one. I've tried turning it on and off multiple times without any issues, but now I'm considering getting a backup board just in case this issue recurs, as other components had worked perfectly before.
