I've tried both Foobar 2K and Winamp. Both work well.

You can capture it at the screen edge and it disappears automatically... A handy shortcut... Check the DSP Manager for some impressive track manipulation... Then there are the various playlists... I haven’t tried all the options yet, but it’s the primary audio player on Windows...

Musicbee stands out as the top choice I've discovered. It's lightweight, extremely responsive, and offers a sleek interface with robust customization options. It handles most features and supports ASIO playback seamlessly.

The best option I use is the J. River Jukebox. Avoid the Media Centre they promote—it charges extra. The jukebox is free and offers all the features you need. It reached its full potential in version 14. For radio streaming, RadioSure is a solid choice. It provides many stations, runs smoothly, and is compact.

iTunes works well for general and music lovers. It updates frequently but doesn’t support FLAC files. It lacks some formats but remains user-friendly as a player. Organizing music into one list makes navigation simple—sorting by artist or alphabet is straightforward. The single library view lets you jump between artists easily, and the Logitech G9x with its scroll wheel adds convenience for browsing thousands of tracks. Similar sorting features are available in other players like Foobar.

I relied on Winamp until it stopped, after which I switched to Foobar... I haven’t looked back.
