iTunes alternatives
iTunes alternatives
I've often heard people say Linus and his friends dislike iTunes, and I understand their point. After years of using it, its interface feels like the only one I'm comfortable with (except Winamp, which was really buggy). Are there any better options for Windows? I'm open to suggestions like RhythmBox, but I'm not ready to switch to Linux just yet. I'd appreciate recommendations from someone who uses or is used by the Kings. I want to move away from iTunes' slowness and lack of flexibility without finding a suitable replacement.
People often don’t like iTunes because they feel it doesn’t perform as well as other programs they’ve tried. Many prefer alternatives like Winamp, which they find more reliable.
Do you require the features you mentioned to be available on the iTunes store? If not, consider AIMP3 or Foobar...
I've found iTunes performs well on Mac and mediocre on Windows. On Linux I previously preferred Banshee because of its similarities (it now uses GTK3, so it's no longer QtCurve compatible). It has been ported to Windows but remains in alpha. You might want to try it if you're interested.
Google Play Music is now my primary choice for enjoying music. It also helps keep your Android connected to your iTunes buys.
