Earlier I owned an XPG Pylon 750w power supply that made coil whine noises. After replacing it with an MSI 650 w PSU, the whine decreased significantly on my GPU. Now I notice a buzzing sound from my motherboards VRM, which varies depending on CPU usage. It doesn’t sound like a capacitor leak either; it’s just a normal buzzing.

The motherboard VRM hum is genuine and altering the power supply can indeed worsen or reduce it. Experimenting with the switching frequency might help ease the issue. Are you certain the problem started after upgrading the PSU or GPU, or was it always present?

Motherboards can produce a squeaky sound, and I own one that tends to be quite noisy. While it's not as frequent on motherboards compared to GPUs, it's still possible because the same components that cause GPU whine also appear on these boards. CPUs generally make less noise than GPUs, which reduces the chance of hearing a similar squeal.

I wasn’t paying much attention to the upper part of my problem, but I think I should have. Could a loose CPU cable be the reason, even without BSOD or crashes?

Unlikely. This could occur if the VRM cooler fails or the thermal pads degrade, causing noise that might only appear during startup or after removing the heat sink. Some users have managed to reduce the issue with additional thermal pads, though it remains risky. You might also fix the problem by attaching the faulty board section, but this carries significant risk if you're not experienced. Switching to a different PSU or adjusting the switching frequency could help, but it may be challenging. Fixing this will definitely be difficult.

It won't be a weak CPU power connector. If it were, it would fail to turn on or shut off completely when shaken.

I just inspected the CPU connection and noticed it seems securely attached. I had to verify it to avoid any issues.
