Hey everyone, I'm using a Ryzen 1700X with an Asus CROSSHAIR VI HERO ATX AM4 board. I'm considering a B550 chipset but am unsure which CPU to pick—options are AMD Ryzen 9 3900X or Ryzen 7 5800X. I'm leaning toward VR, gaming, Photoshop, some video editing, and most of the time browsing the web. Thanks for the advice! Stay safe.

I choose the R9 3900X. Once the R9 5900X comes out, prices will drop. My 42 cents. Please let me know if you differ.

VR, Photoshop and video editing benefit more from multiple cores than single-threaded speed. Although the R9 3900X isn't the top gaming CPU, it performs better in multi-threaded tasks. Choose the R9 3900X now—especially since Amazon is offering a $70 discount. (I don’t use Amazon personally, but you can if you wish.)
