It's time again. Fresh construction!
Hello everyone!
It’s finally my turn! New computer components have been revealed, and many more are expected soon. I haven’t done a full system rebuild in a while, so it’s the perfect time. I’m sharing a build I put together and hope the more experienced folks can help fine-tune it.
Build details:
Processor: Ryzen 7 7800X3D
Cooler: Deepcool Assassin IV (added easily; Ryzen should handle with an air cooler, but I’m open to alternatives)
Motherboard: Gigabyte B650 Aorus Elite AX AM5
Memory: G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30
Storage: Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD
Graphics Card: XFX Speedster QICK 319 Core Radeon RX 7800 XT 16 GB Video Card
Case: Lian Li LANCOOL 216 RGB ATX Mid Tower or Asus Prime AP201
Power Supply: Corsair RM850e (2023) 850 W, 80+ Gold Certified, Fully Modular ATX
Budget: Around 2500. With this setup I’m comfortably under budget, though I’m also considering a new 1440p monitor.
Additional notes:
I already own G.Skill Ripjaws S5 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6400 CL32 RAM. This was purchased before my upgrade to the Ryzen chip and was meant for me. I could always opt for an Intel CPU (i7-14700K), but I’m leaning toward the Ryzen 7 7800X3D. Should this RAM work with the Ryzen, or should I return it for the other components? If I switch the CPU, the motherboard would also need to be updated.
My main focus is gaming. I play a lot of FPS titles and prioritize higher frame rates over aesthetics. Over time I’ve started enjoying more single-player games and MMOs where pure FPS matters less. Also, I plan to run the system at 1440p resolution.
Appreciate any advice or suggestions you can share!
The ram should function with the 7800x3d. Verify the motherboard QVL list for confirmation. Be aware that the 9800x3d is now available and offers better performance, though it may take some time before it appears in stock.
At first glance, the setup seems okay. I’d just include a smaller SSD for the operating system, apps, and launchers, leaving the bigger drive for your game library.
Your total budget is likely around 2500.
Where are you based (to know your currency) and how much are you planning to spend on this build? You might also have ideas to share if helpful.
i plan to check out the Mobo QVL. regarding the 9800x3d, i reviewed some performance benchmarks and reviews. it doesn’t appear to be significantly faster. my expectation was that people would purchase it simply for novelty or because they didn’t do enough research, hoping it would lower the price of the 7800x3d.
I believe the decision has been made. I’ll keep the RAM I already have because my motherboard supports XMP, and even if there’s a problem, I’ll handle it myself. I’m hoping for a price drop on the 7800x3d, though it won’t be significant. I’ve also added a 990 Pro 1TB M.2 and a Western Digital 1TB M.2. The last thing I’m weighing is whether to continue using the deepcool air cooler or switch to something else.
Hi everyone!
I switched my case to the Asus Prime Ap201 and my current Mobo setup won't work anymore. Any suggestions for a suitable mobo? I was considering the b650e, though it seems quite advanced for a regular setup. I appreciate the future-proofing but want other options. Thanks!
Hi everyone.
I’m setting up a new PC and everything looks good so far. However, I’ve decided to switch my case to the Asus Prime Ap201. The Mobo I was planning to use won’t fit, so I’m seeking some advice. I was considering the B650E, which offers future-proofing and other advantages, but I’m unsure if spending over 260 yen on a motherboard is worth it. Do you have any other suggestions?
I think the details you need would come from general computer parts information.
