It's puzzling for me :(
Hi... I'm using PopOs 19.10 with Steam and Lutris. This is my first time with the OS, about four months ago after switching from Windows 7. I faced some problems with certain Steam games but fixed them now and have a 95% working Steam library. For the remaining 5%, I've started using Lutris as suggested, since others say it runs the games I can't in Steam. I've installed WINE 32bit and 64bit, Play on Linux, and Wine Tricks just in case. I also downloaded the latest Lutris installer from the site via terminal. I added D9VK and DXVK from the links provided, placing them in the correct folders as instructed. However, I'm confused about a few things:
1. When I open Lutris, it scans my drives, adds Steam icons, and sets up the config. But when I try to play a game, it keeps asking for another download before allowing play.
2. I can't keep the "play" button active after saving; it disappears every time I switch to use D9VK or DXVK.
3. I can't save D9VK or DXVK even after uninstalling and reinstalling them through the package manager.
4. The WINE folder label seems confusing—I thought it was a virtual drive, but I'm not sure what it really means.
Anyone have ideas on where I might be going wrong? I'd appreciate your help!
This could relate to access rights. Verify who is permitted to read, write and execute the drive or folder. Adjust permissions as needed. For details on Linux permissions via terminal, see DigitalOcean's guide: https://www.digitalocean.com/community/t...ermissions. Most file managers let you modify settings through their GUI. I have limited experience with this since I don't rely heavily on Lutris; it might be a build issue. Yes. When Wine starts, it generates a prefix like "C: drive" in ~/.wine/ for Windows program files and registry data. All actions occur within that folder unless you change its location. Note: you can set the Wine prefix using an environment variable, allowing placement elsewhere. Lutris supports customizing the prefix directory per game in settings, but defaults to ~/.wine/ if unspecified.
Thanks for the response from CactusMan. I’ll check the permissions carefully. With the DXVK problems, I usually delete my programs through the pop shop or package manager before reinstalling. Anyone have a reliable link to download Lutris from the official source?
For Lutris: https://lutris.net/downloads/ Remove the wine prefix using sudo apt purge
Hello once more... Yes, the app you're using already works fine. Are there any methods to retrieve an older release? Thanks a lot — it really helps!
