Noticing this could be a problem in the current market, I thought it might be worth asking. Many friends often replace CPUs in workstations from our old high school, moving them to new setups. The systems we used were mostly old Lenovo Thinkcentres m93p models (around 2017), and we usually kept most components except the motherboards due to their 14-pin power standard.

You request it by giving amd $. I would say there is a 99.9% chance that amd is going to swap your vendor locked CPU with an unlocked one. Edit! That should say isn't going to swap Edited February 22, 2022 by Blue4130

AMD has no responsibility to back a CPU beyond its initial owner... they might advise you to throw in the towel, particularly after the device is retired.
