this ipad was originally my sister's mom's device she lent it to my nephew and i have no idea how long it's been sitting—maybe years. Last year my mom gave it back to me since she was taking care of me for a while, so now it's mine. I plugged it in about a year ago for just 15 minutes, and it started working again. However, after a while the battery icon disappeared, then the charger broke, and i couldn't get it to turn on. About a year later i bought a new charger, but when i plugged it in it still didn't light up after about 10 minutes, showing a dead battery symbol. Now it's been plugged in for around 30 minutes, but it hasn't turned on yet. When i unplug it, it doesn't go completely dead and still displays the battery dead status. It seems like the battery still has some functionality left. Does anyone think it might turn on eventually? Also, does iTunes say the ipad is okay in DFU mode?

Keep it connected all the time. Some older iPads need a lot of time to power up when their battery is fully drained. The same applies to other tablets too. I recently tried a Lenovo ThinkPad from 2011, and it took roughly ten hours to reach 32% charge.

The battery is severely depleted, so it’s best to keep it plugged in for an extended period. Alternatively, connect it to a computer using a USB 3.0 port if available—this often speeds up the charging process. It still functions and will charge very slowly if the battery is damaged, but once it shows any activity again, it should start working normally.

It seems like you're referring to something that might be alive or showing some form of activity. Could you clarify what you mean? I'm here to help with any questions or details you have!

Consider using the USB port on a PC for charging. Once an iPad is completely drained, recovery can take a long time. I charge mine through the PC because I’m close by and it’s easy. My wife lost her iPad two years ago and later discovered it in a drawer among magazines she had been storing overnight before it stopped working.

Stay calm and avoid handling it further. It seems the device is using power again, and the battery is running out. Continuing this could damage it permanently. Connect it properly to the charger and let it rest for a day.

Currently stands at 18% and appears to function properly.
