It's hard to get the port forwarding set up despite appearances.
Hello! Quick rundown of the situation: Today I upgraded to fiber connection (yay!). It's really cool, love the speed. I am trying to port forward using the router page, and it would not work. Specifically I am trying to port forward the minecraft port 25565. I tried using my PUBLIC ip to join, and it would not show up. I phone called my ISP just to see if they had some kind of security system and they said yes and did some things. Now, my port forward works on my computer (I use my public ip address and it can join the server!) However, anybody else cannot join me. This is the first time I see it not working like this. I tried disabling my firewall on my PC. Router firewall is already on very low and the ports are opened like in the images here: https://imgur.com/a/nVBme4C What else should I try? Router: arcadyan speedport smart (ISP: Cosmote, Country: Greece)
Check if your IP is visible to the public or if it's a private address assigned for your device.
does your router state your ipv4 address? does it match with the results u get when you google "what is my IP"? here's a website to check if your port forwarding works https://canyouseeme.org/
Your IP address falls within a private network range. Anything outside these boundaries is considered public.
I think a double NAT might be the reason for these problems. You can verify this by following the path to a public IP like 8.8.8.8. Run CMD and type tracert 8.8.8.8. If the initial IP addresses are private (starting with 10, 192 or 172), it suggests a double NAT is in effect.
