Windows 10 has been stuck in updates since late 2019, and I'm struggling to understand the issue. After reaching full installation, it crashes with error 0x800f0831. Anyone have ideas on resolving this?

You can obtain the latest version from Microsoft's official site and perform the manual update. However, since it hasn't been updated recently, you may need to check their current offerings to confirm availability.

Typically users can't halt updates... Yet seriously, have you performed an antivirus scan recently? Is your operating system stored on a traditional hard drive or a solid-state drive? You might need to reinstall Windows since it could be partially damaged. It's tough to say for certain because OSes are quite complex.

The antivirus is running smoothly on the NVMe SSD. I think I’ll just reinstall it this evening. I’ve been looking for any other options beforehand.

I understand your frustration. I've had to reset Windows several times across different devices for the same issues.

I chose to explore Linux until I no longer resent Windows.
