Appears to be a solid setup, but I’d like graphics included. One of my laptops has a faulty Nvidia card—prefer to prevent that. Much of it comes from Amazon, SWMBO, and I’d appreciate it if you could use the laptop’s hard drives. I think the MB supports raid, which could be worth considering later.

It's interesting that OP mentions ASUS when talking about my positive experiences with ASUS products for both MB and graphics cards, but facing issues with MSI, Gagabyte, and Gigabyte boards in the past.
In short, it suggests the brand isn't the main factor, more about getting a quality product without bad luck.

When I installed Intel's first four processors, I heeded Tom's suggestion and used the ASUS mb. It didn't post properly. I went back to Newegg, received a replacement, but it also didn't post. Then I returned to Newegg again. I've also checked with Frys, got an ABIT MB, which is still working today.

And now for something entirely different. I own a 65-inch Plasma monitor. Can I use it as a PC monitor? Has anyone tried this before? It could create a very immersive RPG setting.

If you use that as a monitor, consider pairing it with a GPU that offers more VRAM, like this one for instance. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/4DkH99/...ack-16g-oc RTX 4060 Ti 16GB Approximately 40% Faster Than 8GB at Higher Resolutions The speed boost is limited to certain games, but in titles that benefit from more memory, the improvements can be significant.
