One of the first Xbox 360 titles I owned as a child was the original Mirror's Edge, and I was thrilled to learn there would be another. I had played it before and excelled at it. I enthusiastically promoted the new version for months, constantly discussing it. But when it launched, many reviews fell short of my expectations, leaving me disheartened and delaying my purchase until prices dropped. Even then, the lack of strong reviews dampened my excitement. Recently, I finally got Mirror's Edge on PC for just £5, and to my surprise, it met—and exceeded—my high hopes. The soundtrack, visuals, gameplay, story, and characters all impressed me. It still felt similar to the original but without its flaws. I’m disappointed I let critics influence my decision, realizing they might not have been as insightful as I thought. I’ve been listening to reviews for both games and movies for a long time, but I now believe it’s important to form my own opinions rather than follow others’ judgments.
The game falls short of expectations. I don’t recall the reason, since I haven’t played it recently. I bought it for £50 without knowing refund options existed, and I got caught up in the buzz.
It's a solid game with room for improvement. DICE seems to struggle with creating content beyond the battlefield. It would have been better if someone else took the lead.
