It raises my concern that something might be amiss with either my monitor or GPU, even though the symptoms seem to align with a driver or OS problem. The issue involves these tiny sparkling or flickering lines on the screen: https://imgur.com/a/Sf0LAk7. These lines show up everywhere, but I focused on one area after zooming in to try and capture them. What’s unusual is that they only show up under certain circumstances—after a Windows reset, when I installed the Nvidia driver for my RTX 4080, and before I first turned on HDR. If I didn’t have any video drivers installed or had HDR enabled, the lines wouldn’t appear. That’s quite strange. Once I turned HDR on, the problem disappeared in both standard and HDR modes and never returned. This situation was very confusing, so I reset Windows again to check if it was a one-time error, but the lines reappeared! The monitor connected to my RTX 4080 is an LG 27GR95QE-B OLED model with HDR support. I used different DP 1.4 cables each time and got the same result. Previously, I connected a new PC with an RTX 4070 Ti to this monitor, and the bug didn’t happen, suggesting the issue isn’t solely due to that setup. This pattern leads me to suspect a conflict between the RTX 4080 driver and the monitor’s firmware, which might not recognize HDR at startup until it’s explicitly enabled. The fact that the lines vanish once HDR is activated makes me worry about potential hardware defects, so I’m considering sending it back if needed. This situation is frustrating because it seems minor but could indicate a deeper problem.
