Hi there - I bought a PCI-E WiFi card on a budget and noticed an internal connection I don’t recognize, kind of like a small 8-pin port. I checked the model number WN7600R-MV but didn’t find any clear info about its purpose. Anyone know what it’s used for? Thanks!
It might be a simple mistake, like the same card copied from a higher version but without the cable. Occasionally this is more affordable than producing two separate models in the factory.
Also available as Lite-On PPQ-WN7600R-MVA or HP part number 466808-001. It appears in P6000 systems but lacks additional details. The connector likely serves to enable/disable features similar to laptop card modes, possibly controlling LEDs for transmission/reception. It might also be used to program the card with OEM hardware IDs by flashing the EEPROM with data. This isn't intended for USB or Bluetooth, and the location seems unsuitable for those connections.
Both agree, it makes sense—like a serial cable for controlling on/off. Not too thrilling, just simple!
