Hello everyone, I've just assembled my new system. It includes a 3800X with a 16GB RAM setup, a 3200MHz Corsair Vengeance Pro, an Asus Strix x570-i, and an NZXT Kraken M22, all running in a Phanteks Evolv Shift. Before starting, I'm aware the case has poor airflow. I noticed problems even without the side panels—checking the BIOS, the CPU was idling around 35°C and the temperature was about 40°C. After letting it sit without the panels, it rose to 45°C. Once Windows was installed and everything was running, tasks like checking email and background downloads kept it at around 60°C. Removing the front panel lowered the temperature by roughly 10°C. The AIO is located at the bottom of the case with an intake nearby. I recall past issues where some boards overheat certain AMD chips, but this seems to be the latest BIOS. I don’t expect it to drop below 40°C during idle. Any advice would be appreciated.
You can upgrade the mesh panel for the shift or choose another high-airflow case. Verify your AIO blocks are securely fastened and consider switching to a better thermal compound if you're using the stock one. If the AIO is described as mounted at the bottom, it means the radiator and fan draw air in from the base or floor of the case—replace the AIO radiator and fan with ones positioned to intake fresh air from the top or sides.
