I’ve been looking for a calming game to enjoy, but the search results kept showing “no mans sky.” So I gave it a shot. It still feels slow, but it’s manageable. (Some worlds give me around 40 FPS at 1080p with a 1060.) I spent time gathering resources, selling items, discovering ships, etc. (It’s similar to starting in X3, mining asteroids, searching for abandoned vessels, trading.) Eventually I accumulated several million credits, began trading, and now I have tens of millions. Then I noticed… “No mans sky” is just a basic open-world version of an X game. In X you can travel between planets for trading or visit space stations. In no mans sky you hunt criminals for profit, just like in X. Trading requires planning good routes, similar to X. You need a large ship for trading, as you do in X. The only difference is that in no mans sky you can explore planets freely to mine or discover things yourself, and it’s significantly simpler. The less noticeable change is the language system—it’s not a big deal. I don’t see much reason to bother with extra languages. You get the paraphrased version (in your language) after they speak anyway. You can’t build space stations in no mans sky, but you can in X3. Overall, I usually prefer polished X games over no mans sky. I haven’t experienced major control issues with X games, but no mans sky feels very smooth. No man’s sky is the relaxed version of an X game. That’s my final opinion.
