It works great on top-end systems. Surprising!
I have a solid PC setup, but Minecraft struggles on it. I experience FPS drops, stuttering, and sometimes screen tearing. Running the game on ultra gives me around 100 FPS. My CPU is AMD FX-8320 at 4.5GHz, with OC ASRock 970 Pro 3 R2.0 RAM, G.Skill RipJaws 16GB, and a 1866MHz GPU. The GPU is AMD R9 290x with cooling via Corsair H105 water cooler. I’m using an Intel 520 120GB RAID 0 SSD and a Bitfenix 750g modular PSU. Can you help me figure out what’s going wrong?
It's possible the game isn't receiving sufficient memory allocation.
Check if your system has the newest 64-bit Java version. You can get it from the official site: https://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp. The current stable release is v8.25.
Check the current AMD GPU driver version you're using. You can also locate the most recent drivers here: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/de...ows+7+-+64
Java update provided some improvement, though the performance remains unstable. Movement triggers frame drops from 130fps to about 70fps, even with the newest AMD drivers.
Are you using vanilla or modded versions? You can tweak a few Java settings to potentially boost performance. Though this might seem trivial, lowering your assigned RAM to 4GB in Minecraft could help. Given how Java manages memory, swapping unused space to the filesystem can reduce allocated RAM and improve efficiency.
