After roughly four months of operation, my machine unexpectedly shut down during gameplay. It would restart briefly after running 5 to 30 seconds, but then power cut off. I've tried resetting the CMOS, swapping RAM slots, relocating the GPU, and checking power connectors—nothing resolved the problem. Occasionally I can boot into BIOS or Windows, but these sessions are rare. Once inside Windows, the system functions normally for 2 to 3 hours before the screen goes black and the machine fails to restart unless I turn off and re-energize the PSU. The hardware specs are listed as: AMD 5900X, ASRock Phantom Gaming, 6900XT, AsRock B550, Taichi Coolermaster 240mm, a 1200W Platinum PSU with two 16GB SSDs, a Corsair 3600 NVMe SSD, and a Seagate 2TB HDD. All components previously worked together in my previous build and were transferred to this one. The issue has lasted five days, and I'm unsure what's causing it since the only solution seems to be powering off the PSU. Any suggestions or information would be greatly appreciated.

Additionally, temperatures haven't caused any problems for me before and stayed between 30-60 degrees during operation when the system functions properly.

I understand you're able to fix the problem by turning off the system for a while. This suggests the power supply unit might be the cause. Can you tell me how to access the BIOS settings? There should be an option to view PSU voltages there, showing values such as 3.3v, 5v, and 12v, ideally staying within ±0.1v. Check if any of these readings are incorrect. Also, confirm the PSU has adequate cooling. I had a similar situation where my PC was on carpet and I was getting overheated.

Do you have to reverse the PSU switch each time it powers down before it restarts? If the system fails to turn back on without turning off the power supply and restarting it, it suggests the PSU has tripped its safety features and is locking out operation. Reversing the switch on the PSU clears the lock. This could indicate a PSU problem, a nearby short circuit, or a damaged cable. Are you connecting extension cables?

It seems like a PSU problem might be at play. The capacitors could be faulty. Consider using a laser thermal gun through the fan grille to check for cold areas or uneven temperatures.

I’d also look at the capacitors on the motherboard and the CPU pins. Do you have another CPU available for testing? Also, are there any other parts you’d like to examine?
