Ryzen 2700x paired with a Pure Rock Slim case. A 120w cooler for a 105w CPU should maintain temperatures, correct? I'm using 100MHz below the base clock. Besides that, my 3200MHz RAM struggles to hit 2666MHz. I've swapped the cooler twice. I have a Noctua NH-D15 in my cart but am holding off on purchasing it until my tax refund arrives. I'm looking for suggestions at this stage.
The Shadow rock slim is an exceptionally compact cooler. Although it lists a 120W rating, the 2700x model consumes over 150W when all eight cores are under load (AMD and Intel thermal limits don<|pad|>). Expect temperatures to reach up to 90°C.
