It's probably because they can put cheap stuff in the package, charge the "premium" price for it. The packaging probably costs them more than anything. It's a serious problem every where actually. If you aren't careful to buy from authorized vendors you are pretty likely to end up with a counterfeit (in any country these days). I know I check my Thermal Grizzly is another that gets counterfeited commonly too.
