Are you referring to the squire in the image? I removed it and reattached it because I'm returning the board today. It comes off effortlessly.
I'm not sure what you're referring to. The main issue seems to be the pre-applied thermal pad on the heatshield being too thick, which can push the SSD down and cause bending. Ideally, a thinner pad would work better, especially if the SSD has no front-side memory. Would that make sense?
I followed exactly what the video demonstrated. There were no problems with matching the heat sync to a regular SSD. The PCIe 4 SSD with its own heat sync didn’t fit properly, so I took out the squire pad to make space.
