I believe my graphics card (XFX r9 390) is failing, but I need some guidance. If I were to replace it with another GPU or check other components, I’d try that but I don’t have any spare parts. In the past, driver problems caused blue screens with graphics error messages. This year has been better until recently. A few nights ago my system crashed during a game, and now Windows 10 won’t launch. My PC boots up, but the motherboard logo appears with red bars across the screen before it crashes to black. Once it reached the "Startup Repair" screen, I couldn’t resolve anything. Also, the fans on the card aren’t turning on anymore. Everything else inside the case seems to be receiving power and working normally. I’ve owned this card since 2017 or 2018, never overclocked it. I’ve inspected all connections inside and outside the case. I’ve followed several troubleshooting steps online, but nothing has helped so far. I’m almost ready to buy a new card, but I don’t want to spend money if there’s another issue. Please advise!

This situation points to just two likely outcomes: The vBIOS file is damaged (uncommon but fixable with another GPU) or the memory and/or surrounding components are faulty. Regardless, you should begin searching for a replacement GPU—either a budget option under $5 to try flashing the vBIOS or a full upgrade.

I checked online and found that the XFX R9 390 does have a BIOS switch. According to @RONOTHAN##, it might function with another profile if needed.

Yes, I didn't verify whether the card supports dual BIOS; a faulty vBIOS might be the issue that needs resolving.

I didn’t realize the switch existed. I attempted it, but sadly nothing appears on the screen—no motherboard logo, and the fan on the card remains inactive.
