Very few people are interested in VR. It's just another overhyped trend from a failed technology that has been tried multiple times without really succeeding. How many people actually played HL:Alyx? As a dedicated Half-Life fan, I don’t have time for it—I wouldn’t waste money on VR just to sit around and collect dust. There are only a couple of decent games out there, so I’d rather upgrade my PC and enjoy all the games instead.

You invest $1000 in something, you need to truly believe it’s worth it. Alyx and Boneworks aren’t endless experiences, they’re single-player campaigns. Everyone who’s interested has already tried them. It smells like Wii syndrome—marketing with motion controls, then people realize it demands real effort and energy. That’s exactly what I see. Personally, it’s odd that the most advanced VR titles are games I’d never play, and they either force you to stand still or teleport. I’m also curious about the buyers of the early headsets. They’re ramping up production, but these aren’t cheap. Are people still purchasing a new $400 headset each year, or are they sticking with outdated gear? I’ve checked out Boneworks videos claiming it’s the future, and honestly, the performance is so poor it feels like a beta product. Every video I see shows people acting like kids, randomly throwing or picking objects. That doesn’t make sense. What kind of gameplay is that?

I’m still happy with my Vive. After that it quickly fell behind with the Pro, Cosmos, version 2 and similar updates. As you mentioned, I’m not spending a lot each year for a relatively small upgrade. I have to admit physics adds an interesting twist to the experience (or takes away when it doesn’t), and experimenting with different things is quite enjoyable. But overall, I felt the same. Eventually, you need something more than just physics. Regarding HL:A, there’s definitely some nostalgia from the series, but I still believe Valve was showing off what VR could achieve.

Everyone who wanted to play it, have played it and moved on. The rest on us are either waiting on being able to get a god damn graphic card to play it or don't care enough about VR. Single player games rarely stay relevant this long after release.
