When I leave the frame rate unconstrained, I generally keep around 40-50 frames per second. It rarely drops significantly. However, there’s this occasional stutter where it seems like time itself is lagging. Capping at 30 removes that issue and gives a smoother experience—though it means sacrificing performance to 30fps. I’m hoping NVIDIA will fix the Kepler problem soon. With my 780, I don’t even reach 60fps on low settings. Adjusting everything to low or off leaves me stuck between 56 and 57fps.

I regret it for players using the Kepler-based cards, since even the GTX 960, which isn't nearly as strong as the 780, can achieve 60 FPS at high settings in 1080p.

It's understandable, though I'm not using 1080p. If I change the resolution to that, I'd see around 50-60 frames per second on most medium settings. That's a bit disappointing. The fix should be available soon, though. I'm hoping for big improvements or I'll switch to an AMD system next time. At the very least, limiting it to 30fps would make it playable. It just doesn't feel right. I can definitely run the game at nearly full settings (except for some hairworks and post-processing) capped at a steady 30fps, which seems smooth enough. But unlocking the framerate or raising the cap to 60 causes noticeable stuttering even at low settings. It's confusing. According to Fraps, it's running between 50-60 on mostly low and medium, but the stutter is really bothersome.

This game is quite tough, isn't it? What do you think it would perform on your GTX 770 and FX 8350 (both stock, not overclocked)? If you disable effects like motion blur, depth of field, and bloom, and set AA to 4x, could you achieve a solid frame rate even at high or maximum settings?

The situation is that Nvidia unintentionally affected Kepler, possibly by accident or on purpose, causing the lower-end 900 series GPUs to outperform the high-end 700 series. The GTX 960 shows better performance than the 780 and 780tis. Nvidia investigated and discovered several driver-related issues with Kepler, planning a fix. It shouldn't worry you much. I've spent about 80 hours on Witcher 3 so far, completed one run, and am currently on my second try. It's the best game I've ever played—strongly recommend it. Just wish I could play without the 30fps cap for smoother performance.

I might finally understand it once I have the funds because I keep hearing it's the top RPG, the best game ever, etc. However, I watched a review from a relatively unknown critic who demonstrated how overly simple (or seemed that way) the combat is and how awkward the movement feels. The constant locking during battles also stands out as something I’d likely find frustrating.

I noticed that review. The player is completely off base and doesn’t understand the topic. He chose the simplest setting, which made combat effortless for him. You shouldn’t fixate on a foe unless it’s a one-on-one situation. Overall, the combat system is excellent.

It drops from 50 to 40 that’s why. Capping it at 40 would help more than 30. Plus, some of you seem a bit off during the fights—it’s tough for me. I mean, this could really be called a potato rolling simulator since you play with it so often. And what’s with the bow? It barely hits anything.

Game doesn’t let you limit the maximum score to 40. I don’t need extra tools for that. Combat feels great. Try not to rely too much on roll dodging. Go with the alternative dodge and practice timing. I’m playing Death March and the fights are really rewarding. Skip using the bow as your main weapon. You’re a Witcher—Witchers don’t use bows. Even Vesemir calls it unconventional when he gives one to Geralt. A silver sword for monsters, a steel sword for humans. The bow works best underwater or when battling flying creatures.

I understand he recorded another video where he battled three enemies on the hardest setting, which were 10 levels tougher than his own. It seems the game locks onto enemies automatically, even in groups. I’m not sure how I feel about this game anymore, honestly.
