Honestly, I've rarely encountered hackers in BF3/4. Most of the time it's just a fake kill that doesn't really count.
I didn't try it myself. I've been mocked as a hacker countless times on BF3 and 4, yet never considered actually doing it. I'm the one who advocates for L2P, because most people who complain about it usually aren't skilled at the game. I've seen many hackers on BF, but they mostly just spam crossmap headshots with an LMG. It's clear to me.
It's possible you weren't able to, the server needs to let it.
I've been enjoying BF4 for a while... EA's Fair Fight Anti-Cheat works well with their netcode. So far, I've only seen a few obvious cheaters (just five).
I have only seen 1 hacker in my entire play time and got banned right away as admins are very active and the cheat system is pretty good. Only because you die weird doesn't mean it was a hacker there are a million ways you can get killed in Battlefield and because there is no kill cam you can't see how he did it.
