11/18/2022 - Update: My cherished 1080ti crossed the rainbow bridge after a tough fight. She rested calmly, lingering in a game menu for roughly half an hour. She is left by her dear companions R9 290x and GTX 980. Evidence: I kept it running on the Mw II main menu since my partner returned from work. I missed the end and came back about thirty minutes later to see black screens. The system was still active, but the card’s lights were missing from the physical unit. I tested it on other machines and swapped another card in my own. The 1080ti displayed a black screen across all setups, while the alternatives worked fine on mine. Thank you all for your support in trying to fix this.

Using the artifacting suggests the VRAM might be failing, possibly degraded to the point of not handling high speeds. Consider downclocking the VRAM by 100-200 MHz.

Through several adjustments, I successfully reduced VRAM speed by 100MHz and restored the core clock to its original setting. The effect on performance was only slight. Appreciate the assistance. It's unclear why I hadn't thought about altering the VRAM frequency earlier.

Verify VRAM temperatures whenever feasible. Elevated VRAM temps might lead to problems such as this. High VRAM temps could stem from outdated thermal pads failing to perform. Determine whether your graphics card includes them—modern models typically do, though I’m unsure about the 10 series.

It remains an SC Black with very few sensors. EVGA introduced the SC2 which added more sensors. The concern about VRAM overheating likely wouldn't have been fully resolved by reducing the memory clock by 2%. It probably wouldn’t make a big difference. If the problem comes back, I’ll disassemble it and replace the pads.

It might influence the voltage in an unusual manner, but it's hard to tell since you can't observe or change the VRAM voltage directly. If you're certain your VRAM has thermal pads, consider swapping them for higher-quality ones.
