It seems like the executable SVCHost.exe is causing some issues.
Recently SVCHost.exe has been causing me a lot of trouble, always putting my CPU at around 50%. When I open Task Manager and close the program, it restarts quickly. This is really frustrating because my G3258 struggles with other tasks while SCVHost.exe takes over its resources. I think it might be linked to Windows updates—when I end or lower the priority of SVC, the updates stop working instantly. Even after cleaning up files in Windows/Software Distribution/Downloads, they still fail. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated! I’m using Windows 7 64-bit on an 8GB RAM system with a G3258 at 4.2GHz. Thanks!
Update the drivers; typically one of the programs running under it is a rather inefficient driver. That's what it was for me.
Check which drivers need updating, including the chipset. The Windows update notes that chipset drivers are already current.
Key things to verify include audio cards, chipset, CPU, GPU, MOBO, and additional hardware. If those aren't the issue, explore the running processes via this link: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windo...7be?auth=1
