You'd only switch it off if you needed to fix something. Honestly, the label "High Performance" seems to be the issue. It's unclear why it implies faster gameplay when it doesn't actually do that. (unless other factors are at play) I only consider power plans for laptops, not desktops.

It's interesting how folks justify a balanced power plan while still using high-power parts. If you truly valued efficiency, why chose the I9 and that powerful GPU?

This setup seems unnecessary because modern GPUs already run efficiently at typical clock speeds. Changing them to higher frequencies doesn’t improve performance and adds unnecessary power consumption. The default settings work well without extra effort.

It must deliver strong performance when required. Yet PCs serve many purposes, and their usage isn't constant—often only a fraction of the time. Drawing double the power when it's not needed doesn't make sense. A balanced setting is ideal, as switching to high performance isn't necessary. Every Windows user defaults to Balanced unless they adjust it, and only a small percentage might face issues there. If problems arise, it usually points to another underlying issue that needs addressing.

So even with Balanced you not leaving anything on still sitting the table for in terms of performance ans the system ramps up and down based on what it needs to run the game? If the answer is no I also have to ask, is there any chance of damaging the sytem if left on High Performance for long stretches?

Under the assumption of a functioning system, contemporary platforms manage these tasks smoothly and automatically. Not in any practical way.

Create a balanced modern framework to calm your anxious thoughts. This approach helps steady overthinking and brings peace.

Your PC is working properly. It seems like you might be overlooking something, but as long as your OS and BIOS are current and all drivers are up to date, you should be fine. Begin adding unusual software that interferes with Windows power settings or process handling—those are the common culprits.

I haven’t refreshed the BIOS yet (because right after I purchased the PC). I wanted to do it, but I’m not excited about handling six or more updates one by one.
