This laptop runs Ryzen 7 4800H with 8 cores, 16GB RAM, and dual booting Windows 10 and Linux Mint 21. It originally works with Windows 11 but now often freezes during light tasks like typing in Google Docs. The freezing mainly happens when using Cinnamon or Linux Mint, not during gaming. I've tried several updates without fixing the problem. CPU usage stays low and RAM usage is under 50%, so I'm unsure what's causing it. I'm new to troubleshooting this issue.

Is TimeShift enabled? Maybe running the hourly backup could help. It shouldn't cause a freeze, but you can verify and turn it off to test if it resolves the issue.

I'll attempt that, though I question if TimeShift is responsible since it seems like an hourly backup. My usage stays smooth on some days and spikes others, every 5 minutes. The whole system doesn't freeze completely—just the display. Background games run normally and react to my actions while my screen stalls. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Nvidia appears to be the issue. On my desktop, removing the Nvidia graphics card resolved the freezing problem. Check the forum at https://forums.linuxmint.com/ for guidance on the right drivers and possible fixes.
