I upgraded my RAM and power supply from 2x8 to 2x16 and from 650W Corsair to 750W Bequiet. I installed them properly. It was a bit chilly at first—temperature was -16°C—and the components were cold. After waiting about an hour near a heater, installation took roughly an hour. During startup, I noticed a yellow light on the motherboard (DRAM), so I removed the old RAM and reinstalled it. When I powered up, I heard a clicking sound and saw smoke coming from the red area in the image below. I contacted a nearby repair shop, they replaced the old RAM and fixed everything. After that, the PC ran smoothly for about five hours of gaming. Should I be worried about failure right now? No need to replace parts unless you notice further issues. TL;DR: New parts worked, smoke occurred, resolved with repair, performance is solid now.
The corsair lacked modular design, while the newer version offered a fully modular structure.
Press firmly until it responds, possibly needing a slight adjustment. Seems like nothing is melting. Fascinating.
