When the system powers down to conserve energy, my monitors occasionally flicker or reset unexpectedly. It seems like a simple column swap occurred, though the display remains functional. The issue isn’t limited to the screen itself; the graphics card appears unstable. Initially, updating drivers and restarting resolved the problem. When it returned, I changed GPU outputs but found none working. Eventually, the GPU couldn’t locate new screens in that condition, leading me to restart it regularly. Now that I’m studying online, I want to avoid forcing the GPU into this unstable mode for extended periods. I’m unsure if background software is involved during these incidents. My machine is a custom build: R5 1600 (no overclocking), MSI B350 PC MATE (BIOS v7A34vAJ), GTX1070 Founder’s edition (no overclocking, not mined), 32GB RAM (no overclocking, 4 mismatched Corsair Vengeance sticks), and powered by a 600W Corsair PSU. Drives include NVMe ADATA SX8000NP with extra SSDs, WD10EZEX-00WN4A0, and a Dell SE2717H monitor (HDMI works). Dell U2414H is faulty, while Acer AL1716 runs fine. Not particularly applicable here, though several users have shared challenges with Corsair RAM and Ryzen processors. Ensure your DOCP settings match the CPU and board capabilities. Many Ryzen models don’t support speeds above 3200, typically designed for 2666 or 2933. It could be a minor factor if not already ruled out.

I keep the RAM at its default speed (2400) since it didn’t handle the built-in XMP settings.

The card is quite old, and it's been a while since the thermal pads and paste were refreshed.

I own the card for five to six years. I never took it apart.
