Bought a new 3200MHZ RAM and adjusted my DDR setting to 2400MHz. The system wouldn’t start, flashing red then yellow lights. I had to replace the old RAM and then use default BIOS. Is this likely to harm the motherboard or the RAM?
2133/2400MHz is the standard speed of DDR4 memory so literally zero cause for concern here.
Realised I hadn’t enabled AUTO or XMP, which might affect RAM settings like timings. Could it have attempted to set incorrect timings? Changing CPU/GPU configurations shouldn’t damage things, but I’m not sure about RAM details.
