I'm unsure about this, previously I thought AMD GPUs could work with high refresh monitors or multiple displays, but now I have a single 60Hz monitor. I'm using a local brand power supply that I must install because my Cooler Master one is having restart problems. Both my 1050 Ti and RX 570 use 30-32 watts when idle according to HWInfo and HWMonitor, while my brother's 3060 Ti uses only 6-7 watts at idle and he has a high-end unit (ASUS TUF 650W).

Different age groups, various silicon types, unique tech My 1050 struggles at 35W when idle you can't judge them the same way because the manufacturing methods differ or even with different suppliers.

According to what I recall, even my 1050 Ti could achieve 7-9w at idle around 22h2. It seems related to the older Windows version your brother uses.

there are threads concerning the power draw of the 1050 as far back as 2016 if you do a google search. many put it down to a bug in the software or a driver issue that seems was never addressed or fixed. One person used a volt meter and it showed lower power readings than the sensor was giving. I had so many tabs open and closed a bunch so cannot find which site and forum the poster was in but you are not alone with the mystery of a 1050 or 1050ti showing power draws of 35 watts at idle when using any of the standard software as HWinfo64 etc.

The clock speed and idle usage details are available via HWiNFO. A snapshot of the GPU section in the sensors panel can provide the visual reference you mentioned.

Found another article where the author mentioned GPUz giving wrong info. It might just be a faulty reading. This is from https://www.techpowerup.com/ Paolo Krocan New Member Joined Apr 26, 2017. First message (0.00/day) on Apr 26, 2017 #14. Hope you fixed it the same way I did; I faced the same issue with a TDP of 49,4% all the time. I connected the watt meter and it displayed accurate usage in every case (8-10W increase vs integrated graphics with multiple monitors). GPU-Z, HWINFO seem to give incorrect readings for TDP, temps, and load. ---- I5-6500T skylake, 16GB DDR4 (2133mhz), Gigabyte H170-D3HP, 2x SSD + 1x 7200, 2 displays, 520Wpsu (80+)

They're aiming to assist with these issues. It seems your system might need some GPU input. Your GPU is set to performance mode, fans are spinning, and idle temps are elevated—even on older hardware. This suggests a potential conflict between Windows and your cards or a need for configuration tweaks. You may want a power-monitor device to track actual power usage. I don’t have details about your motherboard, so I can’t confirm if a monitor can be connected without the GPU. If possible, check power consumption separately before adding more load. Other than that, driver updates or newer card firmware could be the cause.

I own an MSI H110 Pro-VD motherboard, nothing special. By the way, where did you place your GPU in performance mode? Your RTX 570 supports it, but yours is at 1050 Ti. It's hot outside and the room temperature can easily go above 40°C, so those settings make sense.
