It makes perfect sense.
It makes perfect sense.
The upgrade section raises some concerns, yet the other aspects seem logical. It makes sense if Windows laptops run ARM-based chips, and software should support multiple architectures. Why limit ARM to desktops only when we could use it on laptops as well?
Ignoring the clickbait video, a change will happen if there is a good enough reason for it to happen. For computers, this could be a combination of cost, performance and power efficiency especially for mobile devices. Many comparisons are made in narrow focused best case conditions and you need to look at the wider picture. What I haven't seen yet is what these higher end Arm CPUs could do for non-Windows OS. Could it do well in a high end Android tablet for example? At the time I got it, my Snapdragon 8 gen 1 based tablet was the best you can get on Android, and it didn't feel as good as whatever was in my iPad mini before it.
It uses sensational language to grab attention and encourage quick clicks.
If it appears on YouTube, it’s probably already heading toward clickbait territory. The title implying something is about to die, combined with reaction faces and typical thumbnail tricks, feels like basic YT meta. It might work for some, but it really doesn’t impress me.
Discussions about x86 transitioning to RISC technology have been ongoing since Intel introduced its first x86 chip. I’ll trust the outcome when it arrives.
