Yesterday I tested my RX 6800 using FurMark. The GPU started to behave erratically, showing some black lines and then the screen went dark. On the second monitor it displayed a white screen with a black line at the bottom. Luckily I forced a restart and the driver got corrupted, making the PC unable to recognize the GPU even though it was showing my main display. After reinstalling the driver, everything worked fine again. The issue seems resolved, but I’m worried about possible damage. Did anyone else experience similar problems or do you have any advice on what might have happened?
The GPU appears to be working well after completing the final benchmark. I quickly started a few games soon after, and everything ran smoothly. Here are my details: AMD Ryzen 5600G, Radeon RX 6800 Sapphire Nitro, 16GB + 32GB DDR4 4133 CL18-22-22-42, MSI B450M PRO M2 MAX 650W, SF650F14MG, 1TB SSD, 2 SATA SSDs, and an NVMe drive.
If the GPU is broken, I think Furmark just spotted an issue, which means tough games or tests might have harmed your card as well (remember New World). Good to know your GPU looks okay now.
However, it might stem from GPU and Igpu overlaps in the firmware. The problem appears only in furmark even after updating the driver; black lines flicker randomly but the screen doesn't freeze completely. 3D mark timespy and Unigine Heaven are functioning properly. Disabling the IGPU via the motherboard resolved the issue, with GPU performance normal, temperature staying below 64°C and a hotspot around 76°C.
I don’t understand much, but if you turned off the integrated GPU, it might have been the issue. It could be resolved through drivers, firmware, or BIOS settings.
