Hello! Today, I wanted to turn off some services in msconfig, and I noticed something called AmonKorneN, and the description says: ConvictionMass, and the user name is SYSTEM, so is that a OS component or something, because I've never seen anything like that before. The OS I'm running is Windows 11, and the directory of the executable (if it's needed) is in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files, and it was created and last modified on January 21st, 2021. Edit: When I start the uninstall process, it says: Are you sure you would like to uninstall SSOptin? Edit 2: When I google about it the only thing I can find is something called SSOption, which is a malware virus, which apparently adds ads to sites. I'm worried right now. It looks suspicious. The search results aren't showing anything, and uploading the EXE to virtustotal.com will reveal its contents.
Try using a Ubuntu live USB to erase the installation media instead of attempting to uninstall on Windows.
Understood. Even with anti-malware or antivirus tools, it will still eliminate the threat, though any adjustments made to the system won't be saved. Changes to modified files persist, leaving uncertainty about exactly what occurred and whether the issue has truly been resolved.
