It happens that the computer stops working during game startup.
Hello everyone, this is my first time here. I’m trying to figure out what’s going on with my new PC. I purchased the parts myself and assembled it. Here’s what I have: AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3d, MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Gaming x slim, 12GB DDR5 RAM, Corsair RAM, Samsung NVMe M.2 Lian Li GA II 360, Trinity SL-INF 3x, Lian Li Uni fans, NZXT H9 case, Bequiet Pure Power 12M 750W power supply, Windows 11 Pro, BIOS version 1813. My brother-in-law built the machine and everything worked fine until I tried to run games.
When I opened it, Windows installed and started without issues. But when I launched Rocket League, the whole system crashed. No blue screen appeared, just a complete shutdown. After restarting, it played for a short time. Then I tried Warzone again – this time the PC still froze and shut down. I was getting worried and checked online for solutions, testing RAM, updating drives, etc., but nothing helped.
This time I tried CS:GO, but it also crashed when I started the game. I unplugged the power supply and didn’t restart the computer. Now I’m unsure what to do. I think the PSU might not be enough to handle all the components, especially when games are launched. The GPU, AIO, and other parts seem to need more power than the PSU can provide.
I’m worried about the cost and fear that some parts could be damaged. Please let me know if you have any advice or suggestions. Thank you for your time, and happy holidays!
I’m having trouble getting the minidump folder back. I checked the system settings to confirm it’s enabled, but it seems the issue isn’t a bluescreen—it might be related to a full shutdown. The driver updates look good, and the BIOS version is current. Motherboard drivers should be up-to-date, though I need to double-check. Perhaps launching a game again could help if the folder appears. The Windows event log shows a Kernel Power error ID 41, which likely occurs during unexpected shutdowns of any kind. Thanks for your assistance!
I'm willing to bet something is only half plugged in. 24 pin connector is a typical problem causer and it's on my mind because I had a problem with my machine today where it was crashing during games or stress tests. I am still testing but fixing the loose connections seems to have alleviated the issue. And don't stress too much. We've all been there. It's not fun and shouldn't happen with new parts. You will figure it out. Get together with your brother in law and check all the physical connections, especially PSU connections. I think 750w should be fine for that build but I haven't run the numbers myself. Edited December 25, 2023 by RB2021 More information / clarity
Everything seems to be connected properly. My brother-in-law visited and just flipped the direction of the 3 lian li fans, which were poorly installed, and he added 3 nzxt fans from the case that had been removed. After that, everything functions correctly and I can play games. It's surprising how much cooling and airflow impacts the PC performance. Hoping it stays like this. Thanks to both of you for your advice and assistance!
