I recently acquired a 3070 processor and installed it on my PC. I’ve been experimenting with it and decided to run Borderlands 3 at ultra settings on a 2560x1440p display. My old Ryzen 5 1600 is quite hot during gameplay, though it does have the stock cooler, which isn’t running at full capacity—around 70% usage. The CPU temperature consistently stays around 82°C, and the GPU is near 80°C, with a noticeable increase in noise. I plan to upgrade to a Ryzen 5 5600X soon, but for now, I’m checking if the current temperatures are safe for the CPU.

82c works well for the CPU as long as it stays moderate during stress tests like Prime95 Small FFTs. GPU temperatures vary by model—AMD cards can overheat quickly, whereas Nvidia chips tend to throttle sooner.

I wouldn't be concerned below 80, but between 80 and 85 I'd just monitor it closely to avoid overheating. The GPU begins throttling around 83°C, so 80°C is quite near that threshold—possibly already experiencing some throttling. Removing the side panel might help with thermal management.

Arctic Freezer 34 is a solid choice. It tends to be affordable and offers better value than more expensive coolers. The Hyper 212 Black Edition is another strong contender; I own one and find it quite capable, though the Freezer 34 might edge out slightly in performance while being marginally pricier. Have you explored adjusting the GPU voltage? I’m not very experienced with Nvidia’s undervolting process, but this resource should assist. You can also lower the CPU voltage if you’re comfortable doing so.

On the video you showed, the core clock was set to -250mhz and the memory clock to +800, but after loading Afterburner both values reset to zero. Also, when I turned off the side panel, the CPU was around 82 and GPU about 80, while with it on it was 65 and 74 respectively.

Pressing the Windows logo in Afterburner will automatically load each time you boot up your PC, eliminating the need for repeated setup. This suggests a possible airflow problem. Could you tell me what case you're using and how many fans it has?
