It freezes during download or idle but works when in use.
I've posted several Reddit threads trying to get advice, but I'm still struggling to figure it out. I'll paste my latest one and try to simplify the situation. The PC freezes suddenly while playing games on YouTube. It used to happen often if I left it idle for a short time, but now it only does so once or twice. After that, it slows down and isn't very responsive. Recently, it showed a popup saying Windows stopped working, but I can't interact with it because the PC is frozen. I tried changing the motherboard and GPUs, but nothing helped. The issue seems to be with the graphics card or RAM. My SSD also behaves strangely—freezing during downloads and showing errors. I've replaced RAM, tested drives, and even sent a request for repair, but nothing resolves it. I'm worried about the SSD being faulty and might need to replace it. I'm hoping someone else has faced similar problems.
Have you considered taking out the SSD currently running Windows and replacing it with another available SSD to try a fresh installation?
This approach could work since it eliminates the likely faulty drive with Windows installed. Running the PC on a fresh Windows installation from another SSD would likely confirm the problem lies with your existing SSD. If the system still freezes, we should continue investigating. Taking this step is a solid initial attempt to resolve the issue before proceeding with a return or buying replacement parts.
borrowed a flash drive accidentally installed windows 11 twice cause i didnt take out the old ssd, but i guess its the waiting game now to see how it goes, how would i test to see if the old ssd really is broken? just reformat that and install it after seeing if this ssd is fine? downloading ffxiv rn and it seems fine already further then before so thats good also should i move this ssd to the old ssd spot? I didnt cause im stupid and forgot but the one closer to the cpu goes faster right?
Up to now everything has worked okay after the restart. I haven’t installed another SSD yet, but I might try it soon. The main odd thing was a crash or freeze while playing Golf with friends, which makes me a bit concerned. Discord also seemed a bit off, but I think it’s just a temporary glitch. Hopefully the freeze isn’t connected to that issue
I set up my SSD to test, but I’m not sure how to fix things since I reinstalled Windows on it. It seems like a backup was created or maybe that’s just Windows. The partition I need to access isn’t reachable right now. How can I remove it so I can use it as a second drive?
I resolved the issue by removing the disk via the command prompt. It behaved oddly at first, refusing to stay in one state and trying to expand it would make it dynamic. After clearing everything again, it merged properly and the drive worked together. I’m hoping it wasn’t a faulty SSD but rather a driver problem, since I can’t afford an SSD and I’m not eager to upgrade yet—even though it’s about $10. I haven’t installed AMD Adrenalin since restarting, and my PC seems fine without it. I’m unsure if it’s essential now, as everything has worked well so far.
