I face a puzzling issue with my 3080 fe. Occasionally the GPU turns on and functions normally, but other times it powers up and then the graphics stop mid-browse, even under light usage. At other times the system boots without the GPU responding. I’ve learned to press the adapter firmly into the GPU port to get it working, though this didn’t always help. Sometimes I switch off the power supply from its back switch, hold the power button, and then it works again. Even with those adjustments, it still doesn’t function properly, so I try swapping the connections on the GPU adapter that connect to the main PSU. However, I don’t have anyone who can replace the PSU, and I want to avoid spending money if this isn’t the root cause. What might be wrong? Could it be the GPU, the PSU, the adapter, or something else? My motherboard is a Z270p D3, with multiple drives—SSD, HDDs, external SSDs, and more—connected simultaneously. I’m using an Evga Supernova 750 G2 80plus Gold PSU and the included GPU power adapter. I’ve also removed the CMOS battery to discharge any leftover power, replaced it with a new one, reinstalled the latest BIOS, cleaned the 16-pin slot, and reinserted the two 8GB RAM sticks. Any advice would be appreciated.
No there is plenty of room. I don’t use the side panel as the case is basic and this gives plenty of air flow. There’s nothing in the way of the card slotting in either. Slots in clean and clicks nicely. Just like it was when I got it new. I’ve even tried the different slots for the gpu but the same issue.
That’s a helpful observation. It’s odd that pressure on the adapter/socket triggers the graphics card. I’m worried that excessive force might damage the solder joints holding the pins for power. My main concern is whether the problem stems from a faulty adapter, rather than an issue with the power supply.
